Old lady tiger
Cat sleeps in my bed.
She's hunting the dreams
That run in her head.

Curled up on my arm,
Her chin and her paws
Tell me the stories
Of times she once saw.

Suddenly stirring
She wakes with a start!
Then she relaxes
And calms her old heart.

Dream dangers escaped,
She falls back to sleep.
Hunting down her lives
Out there in the deep.

Her graceful decline
Is ever more steep.
Old lady tiger,
I surely will weep.
