Mules and Mermaids

Beautiful mermaids,
Old Mule hears them from his dock.
Such sweet enticements,
Old Mule knows he cannot swim
But he's happy to listen!

Can't swim?
At least dip in
a toe
for a mermaid
to tickle.

It makes his
hooves get too soft,
stay dry

Old Mule sits,
a mermaid leaps—
kersplash!

Old Mule shakes
the water off
and stares.

Mermaid's lips
apologize
and smile;

all the while,
there's mischief in
her eyes.

Damp old Mule
shakes off water,
hah hah!

Old Mule knows
stay on the dock,
just look.

Pulchritude,
gift from the sea
beware.

No seafood
burritos for
old Mule!
